Pinna Mayfair London

Pinna in Mayfair is Archer Humphryes’ carefully articulated interior for a restaurant that brings Sardinian-inspired Italian dining to one of London’s most prestigious neighbourhoods. Opened in late 2024, Pinna responds to the ambition of chef Achille Pinna with a design that creates a warm, convivial setting grounded in Mediterranean ease and contemporary refinement. Critics and diners alike highlighting how the interior complements and elevates the food experience, noted for its “chic, elegant vibe and lively atmosphere,” the concept was to create an interior that felt as though it had always belonged to its neighbourhood: a grand, confident dining room rooted in tradition, yet entirely relevant to contemporary Mayfair. From the outset, the concept was framed around the idea of a historical restaurant – a place of white tablecloths, polished service and quiet elegance – reinterpreted with freshness and restraint rather than nostalgia.

Archer Humphryes design places the open kitchen and grill at the heart of the dining space. In addition to an open fireplace, beautifully curated artwork and a rich and colourful materials palette, the restaurant has attracted reviews describing the interior as striking a “perfect balance between sophistication and warmth,” with soft neutrals, natural materials and subtle Mediterranean accents that foster both intimacy and conviviality. Our approach was to create a space where tactile surfaces—timber, stone and gentle upholstery—and considered lighting work in concert to support the theatre of the open kitchen and social interaction around the central bar. The result is a room that feels both relaxed and poised—a fitting backdrop for the restaurant’s emphasis on fresh seafood, handmade pasta and a convivial wine list that nods to Sardinian heritage.

The layout and detailing at Pinna are orchestrated to enhance the rhythms of the dining experience, offering moments of privacy and connection in equal measure. Warm, enveloping seating groups and carefully scaled volumes frame views across the room, while lighting is tuned to shift from daytime brightness to the softer glow of evening service. Critics and diners have noted the “convivial Mayfair atmosphere” and “lively vibe” that make the space feel welcoming without losing a sense of occasion. Through this project, Archer Humphryes has created an interior that resonates with its locale—Mayfair’s elegant energy—while making a distinct spatial identity rooted in Mediterranean sensibility, reinforcing our commitment to design that is both contextually responsive and experientially rich.
